Aim

To provide participants with survival and emergency training in order to prepare them for an emergency in an offshore environment. Day 1 – HUET & Sea Survival Day 2 – Basic Fire Fighting & Basic Life Support.

Objectives

By the end of the three-day program, participants will have an understanding and a thorough knowledge of the following:

• Describe offshore oil and gas activities and the various types of offshore installation.
• List offshore hazards and comparative risk levels.
• Describe the impact of waste disposal and oil spills on the natural environment.
• Describe the Company’s organization for safety and the HSE MS, UK legislation.
• Describe the key points of the PTW system.
• State the key aspects of Company policy and procedures on fitness, medicine, and substance abuse.
• Describe the offshore travel, living, and working arrangements, safety committees, and safety representatives.
• State actions to take in the event of illness and injury.
• Describe the layout of installations, the use of alarms, and methods of communication.
• State the need for the use of PPE and correct personal clothing.
• Describe the search and rescue organization for sea rescue.
• Muster and board a survival craft (TEMPSC).
• Don a survival suit and permanent buoyancy lifejacket.
• Enter water from a height.
• Launch and inflate a marine life raft.
• Carry out first aid and understand the effects of hypothermia in a life raft or TEMPSC.

Duration

Three Days Course.

Target Audience

Delegates who have attended a BOSIET course and wish to maintain their current certification for working in the offshore industry.

Location

ETSDC Training Centre in Mussaffah.

Aim

The course gives trainees the opportunity to practice and demonstrate offshore survival, firefighting, and helicopter emergency skills.

Objectives

• Carry out in-water individual and group survival procedures.
• Demonstrate rescue by recognized methods of offshore rescue, i.e., scramble net & heli-strop.
• Raise the alarm on discovery of a fire.
• Operate fire extinguishers.
• Carry out self-rescue and small group escape techniques using respiratory protection in smoke environments.
• Don a transit-style survival suit, aviation lifejacket, and emergency breathing system.
• Carrying out a dry evacuation from a helicopter ditched on water into a liferaft.
• Escape from a capsized helicopter and inflate a lifejacket.

Location

Aim

To provide theoretical and practical training in helicopter and simulate helicopter ditching.

Objectives

• Before flight check-in procedure.
• Helicopter safety and recognition.
• Life jacket construction and use.
• Seatbelt procedure.
• In-flight emergency procedure.
• Survival techniques.
• Location aids/rescue.
• Emergency breathing system and use.
• Done a transit-style survival suit, EBS, and aviation lifejacket.
• Carrying out dry evacuation from helicopter ditched on water into life raft.
• Evacuation and escape training using emergency breathing system (EBS).

Target Audience

Personnel working in an environment that could become contaminated by H2S GAS.

Location

ETSDC Training Centre in Mussaffah.

Aim

To introduce and provide basic knowledge on the formation, properties, and hazards of H2S gas.

Objectives

Participants will be able to:

• Identify the common origins, specific locations, and all potential hazards associated with H2S gas.
• Understand the properties and characteristics of H2S gas.
• Understand the symptoms of H2S gas in the human body.
• Understand the occupational exposure limits to H2S gas.
• Know about the parts per million (ppm).
• Understand the factors affecting individual susceptibility to H2S gas.
• Familiarize with the types of detector equipment and respiratory equipment.
• Action to be taken in the event of an alarm.
• Understand initial emergency response.
• Response and alarm of H2S.
• Operate the gas detector and methodology of gas monitoring.
• Demonstrate and with practice use of escape breathing apparatus, a mask, and hood including pre-use check.
• Demonstrate connecting and disconnecting cascade breathing system.

Practical Assessment:

Donning of escape breathing apparatus with mask within 30 seconds.
Donning of escape breathing apparatus with hood within 30 seconds.

Aim

During the TBOISIET programme delegates will gain a basic level of understanding & awareness of safety & emergency response on offshore installations.

Objectives

They will be required to demonstrate their skills & the level of knowledge & understanding of the following key areas:

• Offshore hazards, their control and consequences.
• Waste disposal/environmental awareness.
• How offshore safety is regulated.
• How offshore safety is managed.
• Procedures for prescribed medicines offshore.
• Alcohol and substance abuse policy.
• PE requirements.
• Procedure for reporting incidents, accidents & near misses.
• The role of the Medic.
• Donning an aviation lifejacket.
• Actions in preparation for a helicopter ditching and an emergency landing.
• A controlled emergency descent to a dry landing with evacuation via a nominated exit.
• Donning of a permanent buoyancy lifejacket prior to use in an emergency.
• Actions when mustering and boarding a survival craft as a passenger during launching operations.
• Fitting of a helicopter strop and correct body posture during winching.
• Immediate first aid actions including the ABC.
• Use of appropriate hand-held portable fire extinguishers.
• Self-rescue techniques with a smoke hood from areas where visibility is reduced due to smoke.
• Small group escape techniques with a smoke hood from areas where visibility is completely obscured.

Target Audience

Delegates who have attended a TBOISIET course and wish to maintain their current certification for working offshore industry.

Location

ETSDC Training Centre in Mussaffah.

Aim

During the TFOET programme delegates will have an opportunity to practice and demonstrate skills which it is not possible to practice offshore during drills exercises and offshore training.

Objectives

They will be required to demonstrate their skills & the level of knowledge & understanding of the following key areas:

• Donning an aviation lifejacket.
  • Actions in preparation for a helicopter ditching.
  • A controlled ditching on water (including the operation of a push out window on instruction from aircrew).
  • A partial submersion of an aircraft (without operation of push out window).
  • A partial submersion of an aircraft (including operation of a push out window).
  • An aircraft capsize in water (including the operation of push out window).
• Use of appropriate hand-held portable fire extinguishers.
• Self-rescue techniques with a smoke hood from areas where visibility is reduced due to smoke.
• Self-rescue techniques with a smoke hood from areas where visibility is completely obscured.
• Small group escape techniques with a smoke hood from areas where visibility is completely obscured.
• Raising the Alarm.
• Immediate first aid actions including the ABC.
